Alice Mardelet Santamaria: A passionate lawyer at the service of Canadian immigration
Born into a family of Spanish immigrants who fled Franco’s regime for France, Alice Mardelet Santamaria transformed her personal story into a professional vocation. After studying law in Montpellier and Montreal, and working for the UN on the rights of women and displaced persons, she specialized in Canadian immigration law.
In 2021, with several years’ experience in private practice, she founded Cabinet Santamaria Avocat in Montreal. Today, she heads a three-person team covering all aspects of immigration: asylum law, family reunification and economic programs. The firm relies on a human and responsive approach, offering personalized support to prospective immigrants.
A member of the Quebec and Paris Bars, Me Santamaria aims to develop her activities in Europe and Africa. She works with prestigious partners such as Desjardins and Air Canada to organize conferences and make Canadian immigration more accessible.
Despite recent suspensions of immigration programs in Quebec, she remains optimistic about the future of the sector, seeing immigration as an essential solution to Canada’s demographic and economic needs. For young people interested in this field, her message is clear: “If you’re looking for a passionate profession that makes sense for you, go for it!”
